There are a lot of options, but here at Bill Utter Ford, we've done the leg work for you! We've taken the new 2020 Ford F-150 and put it up against the competition, like the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500. For power, capability, comfort, and safety, you won't find a better option than the 2020 F-150 full-size pickup truck. Check out how the two trucks match up down below.

2020 Ford F-150 vs Chevy Silverado 1500

  • Both lineups offer six engine options to choose from, including V6, V8, and turbo diesel powertrains to choose from. Ford offers the most powerful engine option in Limited and Raptor trim levels as its High-Output 3.5-liter EcoBoost® powertrain outputs 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, outstripping any choice from the Silverado lineup.

  • When you need the power of a diesel engine, either the F-150 or the Silverado 1500 offers a turbo diesel engine. However, if you want the best diesel towing capability, you'll find it at the wheel of the Ford F-150 which can tow a maximum of 11,500 pounds while the Chevy Silverado can only tow 9,300 pounds with its diesel engine.
  • Ford offers a best-in-class payload capacity of 3,270 pounds, ideal for work supplies or recreational toys on your next camping trip. The Silverado truck can't even come close to matching this.
  • The F-150 utilizes the Pro Trailer Backup Assist™, a feature that allows truck owners to easily control the direction of your trailer as you back it into position with the turn of a knob. This is class-exclusive to the Ford truck, so you won't find the same convenience on the Chevy pickup.

  • Working at night? The Ford F-150 offers optional LED lighting with Quad-beam LED headlamps, LED box lighting, LED trailer hitch light, and class-exclusive LED side-mirror spotlights. The Chevy Silverado isn't as well-equipped with the same features, so you might have to call it an early workday.
  • The Ford truck lineup offers the stellar Ford Co-Pilot360™ driver assistance suite of safety features, including Blind Spot Information System with Trailer Coverage, a lane-keeping system, and pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. These are standard or available with base trim levels in the Ford lineup, but only available on more expensive trim options from the Chevy Silverado lineup.
